To be CBR is to be something special. So when we came to design the CBR300R we knew just where to go for inspiration – the CBR1000RR Fireblade, our ultimate open class Super Sport machine. A crisp silhouette outlines the look of speed while stylish twin headlights, sharply angled fairing with colour-matched under-cowl and steeply raked seat unit inject Super Sport attitude into the 300cc class. You cannot or will not mistake the CBR300R for any other motorcycle. And that’s by design. It is CBR.
The CBR300R’s 286cc, DOHC 4-valve liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine is housed in a steel diamond twin-spar frame that features a rigidity balance tuned for dynamic agility, rider feedback and surefooted stability. Power (22.7kW) and torque (27Nm) is delivered seamlessly, the free-revving engine is armed with a crisp feel and delivery at all rpm, thanks to advanced 38mm throttle bore PGM-FI fuel injection.
A rider needs to feel a direct connection to the road and precise suspension control. The CBR300R supplies both, thanks to well-damped and fluid 37mm telescopic forks and Pro-Link rear monoshock. Lightweight Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) is fitted as standard and backs up the powerful front 296mm disc and rear 220mm disc. And the CBR300R’s fuel efficiency means 85.3 mpg (WMTC mode) is possible, giving a range of over 240 miles from the 13 litre tank.
The concept hasn’t changed.That’s why we continually dominate road races like the Isle of Man TT where the CBR1000RR Fireblade took the top three places in the 2013 Superbike race.
